Gold Sparkle

I finally took the plunge and got a Barry M magnetic polish. I hadn't faired too well with the 17 ones but I can say I'm really impressed with these ones. I disliked the 17 ones because it was a one coat polish which even with a top coat just chipped so quickly.
The Barry M polishes are already better because you can use more than one coat. The instructions say to do two but one nail I did three because it was being stubborn with the magnet. I had coveted the polish used for the ad campaign for the magnetic polishes and happy days its this one!
My boyfriend was amazed at the results and said the magnet forces the polish to part which makes the effect, which makes sense. This one is quite sparkly and a really pretty bronze colour, with a lighter golden colour which appears under the magnet.

 I used the magnet on the first and second coats, which it only says to do it on the second coat but still worked fine. I used a top coat too and my nails are only now wearing down after five days of wear which isn't bad for Barry M! This is so quick and easy with impressive results that its perfect when you don't have much time.
I really like the look of the blue magnetic one with the union jack type pattern so that might pop up soon.

Night Light

This post title is inspired by the Jessie Ware track of the same name. I saw the video for it last night and to say I was blown away would be an understatement. Its beautifully done and so artistic. She looks stunning and it's nice to see she's finally being recognised for the incredible artist she is.

I couldn't wait to wear another Models Own Wonderland polish so my next pick was Southern Lights. Its a lilac toned polish with holographic glitter suspended within. In terms of sparkle power and eye catcher skills this is on par with Juicy Jules.

These pictures are day five of the polish being on. I didn't bother with a top coat as I don't think its necessary with these polishes. However if you use Models Own colour glitter such as Emerald Green, Magenta Divine etc I would recommend a top coat as they glitter colour tends to rub off and leave little silver particles. The only signs of wear my nails are showing is the growth at the cuticle.

I seriously love Models Own polishes. All I ever do is rave about them but for £5 a bottle they are so good! Plus Boots often have offers on, ASOS do boxsets and the Models Own website also do their own deals so you don't necessarily have to pay £5 for each one, I know I haven't. I've got quite a collection now and I'm thinking of doing a post on them all so I'll get busy preparing it :)

Adding Some Sparkle

Gutted with the weather at the moment, I have a week off work, its July and its windy, cloudy, grey and quite chilly. I was so hoping for sunshine! Anyway last week I treated myself to a new glitter polish. I haven't used Barry M for ages as Models Own have become my absolute favourite, go-to, polish of choice. I did try the Barry M Indigo the other night as I love the deep purpley blue hue but it wouldn't dry just stayed tacky and I gave up and removed it. However when I saw this bottle sparkling at me under the lights in Boots, I was buying it with hesitation.

 The glitter is actually a mixture of bigger and smaller pieces which I haven't seen in Barry M before. But they've just released the Jewel Britannia which has bigger and small glitter pieces. I've layered this polish up to about 3 or 4 layers and it looks incredible when it catches the light. Even more amazing is I haven't applied a top coat (you what?!) and it hasn't chipped! I have been off work but this has gone through washing up, showers, food preparation and quite a few hand washes (clean freak). When I first used the Barry M glitter polishes years back they would chip in big flakes and would last one or two days if that. They may make the clear polish containing the glitter stronger or it could be the bigger and smaller glitter particles holding together stronger I don't know. However I'm so happy it has stayed on this well. Barry M have a few new glitter polishes out, not sure for how long as I rarely look let alone buy of recent times but they seem to be upping their game.

So the weather may be rubbish but I can still have something pretty to look at :)

Mint Dream

The weather is all over the place at the moment. Monday was overcast and grey. Tuesday was bright and sunny with blue skies. Wednesday was very hot, too hot for work and made me absolutely desperate to wear a maxi dress or a summer dress or a bikini or shorts or just anything summery haha. Today was grey, dark and pouring with rain. Got soaked on my way into work regardless of my huge union jack cage umbrella. In my haste to get to work (the rain always affects the traffic and puts me on the drag) stood a bit too close to a crossing and a car splashed up a puddle onto my shoes. Had to change them when I got into work and put the soggy ones on the radiator. The middle of the day brightened and then when I left work, back to downpour. Its now blowing a gale outside and very black. Honestly for June this is ridiculous!

Anyway regardless I opted for some sparkley nails to brighten my days, My boyfriend is currently enjoying 32 degree weather in Malaga and I would love to be there with him, on the beach, soaking up the rays.

Such a cute combo. Juicy Jules is absolutely amazing for sparkling in the light, and I love wearing it. If you are only going to own one Models Own polish: make it Juicy Jules!

Thunder & Lightning

This is Models Own Thunder & Lightning polish. The pictures do not do it justice. The multi colour glitter inside looks amazing when it catches the light. Its also a time saver as before I'd spend ages painting my nails black or navy, followed by a glitter coat or two topped off with a clear polish to prevent chipping. This skips all of the stages except the last. 

This is perfect for a night out and I expect to wear it on plenty of occasions. Models Own has become my absolute favourite nail polish brand in the last year and I can't recommend them highly enough. They have an amazing selection of colours and they dry very quick. They resist chipping longer than others I have tried, what more could you ask for?!
